performance involving participatory outreach activities prior to the presentation
The Story of Plume
The Hut of Plume is a performance that invites the inhabitants of a territory to prepare themselves to become part of its story. To this end, we designed tailor-made outreach modules including construction workshops, singing, dance, and theatre. We can lead these modules ourselves and/or train local participants to facilitate them on our behalf. Tutorials are also available so that everyone can prepare from home.
“My cabin is my refuge, my banner, my shelter of chance, my observatory. My cabin is my own world.”
Plume is a young girl of about ten years old, and her world is under threat. The birds have fallen silent; they have suddenly disappeared, heralding disaster.
Plume calls upon us to join her struggle, to seek the humanity that connects us all, in order to try to save her cabin and bring the birds back.
But the countdown has already begun.
Our Interventions
We worked in Beauvais as part of the celebration of the 800th anniversary of the Cathedral. Four local organizations came together to host the performance and its participatory activities: ASCA, La Batoude, Théâtre des Poissons, and the Conservatoire de Musique du Beauvaisis.
We ran workshops for two weeks in a shopping gallery unit, right in front of the mall checkout area. Over 1,500 people of all ages and backgrounds actively participated. During this time, we built dozens of totemic figures, each acting as a banner representing the bird peoples united to help Plume defend her cabin.
